What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The distributor of my magazine would have a very important role. It is the job of the distributor to attract the target audience. This is done through advertising, marketing and then distribution to sale outlets. Because of this I would ideally like to use a leading publisher/distributor. IPC produces over 85 media brands, with their print brands reaching almost 27 million UK adults and their online brands collectively reaching 20 million users every month. So I feel this would be an appropriate publisher for my magazine, and then I could use its distributor, MarketForce.

I feel this would be the right one to use because although it already carries a music magazine, NME, my magazine is different in many ways, the main way would be that my magazine attracts a younger age group. NME's readership is 76% men and the median age is 23. And mine would be aimed at a considerably younger age group 16 - 20 year olds. Also NME is a indie/rock magazine mine is more of a wide variety, as it has unsigned bands, a bit of RnB, Garage, a bit of indie and even pop. so this wont clash/compete with NME but they could help each other out by advertising there magazine in the the other magazine, this would help broaden the auidences and help improve sales on both parts.
'Institutionally' my magazine would be similar to kerrang, NME and smash hits. These are all mainstream magazines that are advertised on TV and also have there own television programmes. Also it could then be marketed using similar techniques such as a free CD’s, posters and competitions. It could be sold in the obvious supermarkets (Tesco and Morrisons) and newsagents (WHSmith) this makes it mainstream and in the view of the public.
My magazine is aimed at teenagers of both sexes of the ages between 16 - 20 and this is a rather obscure market to go for as they are important years in your life, but my magazine includes abit of every musical genre so it can satisfy anyones taste, this is a gap in the market, because i am yet to have seen a magazine which includes a bit of everything. so there isnt really a magazine in the current market that can compete or be compared to my magazine.
